All hail the Flying Spaghetti Monster!
Any deity that brings forth his full wrath when there are fewer pirates
in the world is the deity for me. An afterlife with a beer
volcano is a real plus too.
This noodly deity arose from a farcical response to the consideration
of the Kansas School Board to teach intelligent design as science, but
seems to have taken on a life of its own. Chief among the FSM
off-shoots appears to be rampant merchandising. I'm thinking the coffee mug
with the graph showing the definitive and causal relationship between
the decline of pirates and global warming is just the thing for me. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

I blogged back in January about my coffee intake (about two Venti iced coffees a day). It looks like new research shows that coffee may be one of the best sources of antioxidants (the biological equivalent of rust inhibitor).

Thanks to Doug for noticing it's now been a month since my last
post. At least one of my readers (all three of them, including
me!) yearns for the thrill of new posts to Blog Ho!
To kick things off after a month I'm going to throw out there one topic
I've been wondering about for a while. Why are the headrests
missing from cars in a lot of TV shows and movies? I first
noticed this while watching an episode of Monk, and if I recall the
headrests were missing in the movie Sideways. Watch for missing
headrests and you will spot them.
That reminds me, I learned from
someone at CDW that Monk is the number one rated TV show among IT
profesionals. That's why CDW advertises during the show.
From the nerd department, I have managed to get Xen
working in Fedora 4. So far, it seems to work fne, but I'm
worried it doesn't solve as many administrative problems as full
hardware virtualization does, like VMWare. With Xen you boot to a
Xen kernel, then run virtual servers which run their own Xen
kernels. One of the major benefits I see from virtualization is being able to easily move or recover a
system to another physical computer. But if the Xen host kernels are
different, will the system move?
In other news, I'll be giving a talk next Wednesday on Mono at nlug. Write Comment (0 Comments) |
