The expansion of Google's index and my own "Google Fame" got me thinking... Turns out the domain name googlefame.com was available, so I bought it. Here's the concept - people enter their name, use the Google API to see how many hits there are for that name, store their name and the numbe of hits in a database then rank people by their "Google Fame".
Now, the question is should I develop it in PHP or .NET using Mono? I just got the latest stable build of Mono (the open source port of Microsoft's .NET) and the mysql ADO.NET libraries working tonight. I'm tempted to go for it in .NET to grow my skills in that area and see how well mono holds up. Then again, PHP is just so darn useful (InfoWorld even listed underestimating it as a top 20 IT mistake). If you have any thoughts on this topic, please share them.
