c|net reports a root kit exploiting the Windows RPC vulernability is circulating. The kit invades the computer and installs itself then sits and waits for commands via IRC. Pretty standard as root kits go.
This removes any doubt that hackers can use the RPC vulnerability to take control of computers and make them do their bidding. All that's left is to add some code to find and infect other machines. I have a feeling it's going to be a long week at work...
