One reader wants more or the case of the missing headrests Print E-mail
Friday, 26 August 2005
Thanks to Doug for noticing it's now been a month since my last post.  At least one of my readers (all three of them, including me!) yearns for the thrill of new posts to Blog Ho!

To kick things off after a month I'm going to throw out there one topic I've been wondering about for a while.  Why are the headrests missing from cars in a lot of TV shows and movies?  I first noticed this while watching an episode of Monk, and if I recall the headrests were missing in the movie Sideways.  Watch for missing headrests and you will spot them.

That reminds me, I learned from someone at CDW that Monk is the number one rated TV show among IT profesionals.  That's why CDW advertises during the show.

From the nerd department, I have managed to get Xen working in Fedora 4.  So far, it seems to work fne, but I'm worried it doesn't solve as many administrative problems as full hardware virtualization does, like VMWare.  With Xen you boot to a Xen kernel, then run virtual servers which run their own Xen kernels.  One of the major benefits I see from virtualization is being able to easily move or recover a system to another physical computer.  But if the Xen host kernels are different, will the system move?

In other news, I'll be giving a talk next Wednesday on Mono at nlug.
