I saw Serenity on Friday night and it was fantastic! The movie based on the shortlived TV series FireFly. The show is characterized as a 'space-western' and portrays an ambigous future with pirate style adventure and humor. I'll probably go see it at least once more in the theater.
Out of nowhere, Zimbra popped up with an open source groupware suite that could be a contender as a Microsoft Exchange replacement. Check out their flash demos. The architecture description is worth a look too. I think they got it right, picking the right components for the right roles, postfix for the MTA, apache for the webserver, and so on. I got it running on the reusch.net backup server. If I can migrate the existing setup reasonably well, I might set it up on the production server.
As more and more of our lives end up in digital form the cost and frustration factor of losing data goes up and up. One solution is to let the computer keep track of all your stuff, every change you've made to your stuff, and make sure you never lose it. This is one solution. It's only workable if you're a card carrying nerd, but the result is one many aspire to - all your stuff, everywhere, all the time, nothing ever lost, and the ability to go back in time if you do something you wish you hadn't.
My buddy, Jonny Turbo, and his wife are also expecting. He has opened a blog to share his experience as a first time father.
