Make Adobe Acrobat Less Annoying |

If you've installed Adobe Acrobat lately, you might have noticed a general increase in annoyance from the program. They took a few cues from the annoyance department at Real networks and added two features that will make you want to redefine the "F" in PDF.
First, they bundled the Yahoo! toolbar. That's easy enough to get around. When you install, do a custom install and don't install the Yahoo! junk.
Second, the software checks for updates and annoys you not only about updates to Acrobat, but tries to get you to install other crap from Adobe. The update window often comes up when you least expect it to, like during a presentation, and appears to be responsible for web browser hangs/crashes when you try to open a PDF on a website.
Here's how to turn off the automatic update feature -
1 - Open Acrobat 2 - Select Edit | Edit Preferences 3 - Select the Updates section from the menu on the left 4 - Select "Manually" from the drop down list and uncheck "Display notification dialog at startup"
