I was checking out the official campaign blog on JohnKerry.com tonight. This entry in particular titled "Speech of a Lifetime" caught my attention. At last count, it was up to 222 comments.
After reading through some of the apparently unmoderated comments (a few were critical or poorly written) I decided to check out the Bush campaign reaction and the buzz on their blog. The reaction of Bush supporters remains a mystery. Unless I'm missing something, there are no comments allowed on the Bush blog!
I clicked on the sign up link thinking there might be some mention of comments for logged in users only and was instantly struck by the difference from the Kerry signup form.
The Bush form offers no less than thirty-one "coalitions" you can join. The Kerry form offers three "issues". The language (issues vs. coalitions) and categorization (31 vs. 3) reflect how the campaigns perceive prospective volunteers. Bush selects on race, religion, and occupation, while Kerry selects on issues (foreign policy or civil rights).
When both candidates say they are going to unite America who do you believe?
